AXIS Dance Company (AXIS) teaches integrated dance and movement.

Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) offers integrated classes on yoga, strength training, dance and tai chi.

World Institute on Disability (WID) offers support groups and leadership training on making healthy lifestyle changes and meeting and bringing friends with you.

People with shovels at the groundbreaking ceremonyIt was six years ago today that we officially broke ground in the east parking lot of the Ashby BART Station. And we have the photo to prove it — Throw Back Thursday! The image below shows Kaia Burkett, who was at BORP at the time, CforAT’s Dmitri Belser, TLG’s Megan Kirshbaum, DREDF’s Susan Henderson, Kathi Martinez who was with WID, Ed Roberts’ mom, Zona Roberts, CTP’s Joan Breves, and of course, Jan Garrett who was with CIL. June 7, 2014, 10 am to 2pm

Open to people of all ages and abilities, hosted by the World Institute on Disability (WID), Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) and AXIS Dance Company.

Learn about fun options to start or increase your healthy lifestyle, from teachers and leaders in adaptive fitness and recreation.

Many Bay Area community recreation programs will display and demonstrate their disability-friendly activities and explain how to get moving!

The day will include:

  • Adaptive Yoga and tai chi Classes
  • Physically Integrated Dance Classes
  • Bicycle Demonstrations by BORP
  • Info on accessible team sports, recreation, adventures and more!
  • Healthy refreshments served!

Free and open to the public, learn more and register online.

The ERC is located at 3075 Adeline Street, in Berkeley, Ca, south of Ashby Avenue between Tremont and Woolsey Streets, and convenient to the Ashby BART station.

The ERC is fully accessible and scent free. Alternative-to-print material for blind or low vision, and Deaf interpreters will be available.
